Quality & Technical Compliance Specialist
At Cogitic, we don't just manufacture parts, we help support the mission-critical systems that keep U.S. Navy submarines operating safely and effectively.
We're a growing precision manufacturing company in Colorado Springs, specializing in complex, high-quality components for national defense. Our work requires exceptional attention to detail, technical expertise, and a team that takes pride in getting things right.
We're looking for someone who knows quality, understands manufacturing, and enjoys connecting the dots between technical requirements and getting the job done right.
If you have a background in manufacturing quality, quality assurance, quality control, technical documentation, or engineering support, this could be an exciting next step in your career.
About the Opportunity
As our Quality & Technical Compliance Specialist (Contract Compliance Specialist), you'll play an important role in making sure customer requirements are understood, documented, and carried through every stage of manufacturing.
You'll work closely with our Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to interpret technical requirements, coordinate project documentation, and help ensure the components we manufacture meet the high standards our customers expect.
This isn't a traditional quality inspection role or a desk job focused solely on contracts. It's an opportunity to apply your technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail across the entire manufacturing process.
What You'll Do
Interpret technical and quality requirements: Review customer contracts, purchase orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to identify requirements and ensure they are communicated accurately.
Support critical defense programs: Work with U.S. Navy and Department of Defense requirements, including applicable DFARS, NAVSEA/NAVSUP, LEVEL I/SUBSAFE, and customer-specific specifications.
Coordinate across departments: Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Supply Chain to ensure customer and contract requirements are understood and properly implemented.
Organize manufacturing projects: Create and maintain accurate ERP records, including parts, bills of material (BOMs), work orders, outside processing, and related project documentation.
Manage compliance documentation: Prepare and submit certification packages and required documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Review technical records: Evaluate engineering documentation, solid models, test plans, material certifications, and manufacturing records for compliance with customer requirements.
Develop manufacturing documentation: Translate customer-provided information into clear, accurate documentation that supports production.
Improve processes: Assist with developing and maintaining procedures, work instructions, and training documentation to support quality and continuous improvement.
Leverage technology: Utilize ERP and project management tools to improve planning accuracy, workflow efficiency, and overall operational performance.
Support the team: Demonstrate Cogitic's core values while following company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures, and assist with additional responsibilities as needed.
What We're Looking For
We're especially interested in candidates with a background in manufacturing quality, quality assurance, quality control, or technical manufacturing support who are ready to broaden their experience.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, contracts, and manufacturing documentation.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies, understand requirements, and maintain accurate records.
Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
Experience That Would Be a Plus:
Background in quality assurance, quality control, quality engineering, or manufacturing documentation.
Experience in an AS9100 or ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with material certifications, traceability requirements, inspection records, or certification packages.
Experience with ERP systems and project management software.
Exposure to aerospace, defense, precision machining, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with government contract requirements, NAVSEA, SUBSAFE, or DFARS.
Don't check every box? If you have a strong manufacturing or quality background, an eye for detail, and a willingness to learn, we'd still love to hear from you.
