What You'll Get to Do
Work on Mission-Critical Programs: Lead engineering activities supporting complex components for the U.S. Navy's nuclear submarine fleet.
Advance Cutting-Edge Technology: Help expand our NAVSEA-qualified additive manufacturing capabilities and support the development of new materials and manufacturing processes.
Lead & Develop a Team: Mentor engineers, establish clear expectations, and build a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Solve Complex Engineering Challenges: Provide hands-on technical leadership across mechanical engineering, design for manufacturability, welding, assembly, and testing.
Bring Engineering Concepts to Life: Oversee technical drawings, 2D/3D models, manufacturing documentation, process development, and complex assemblies.
Oversee Specialized Testing: Support hydrostatic, thermal shock, flow, and acoustic testing while coordinating external destructive, nondestructive, shock, vibration, and underwater explosion testing.
Drive Engineering Performance: Manage engineering priorities, establish performance metrics, improve processes, and ensure high-quality, on-time customer deliverables.
Build & Expand Capabilities: Lead additive manufacturing initiatives, maintain welding programs and qualifications, and identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
Collaborate Across the Organization: Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and leadership to solve challenges, establish engineering standards, and support our Quality Management System.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology Management, or a related field.
10+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience.
5+ years of engineering, manufacturing, and welding-related technical leadership or supervisory experience.
3+ years of technical project management experience.
Experience managing complex engineering design or development projects.
Strong mechanical aptitude, manufacturing troubleshooting skills, and proficiency interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
Proven ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively across departments.
Proficiency with ERP systems and standard business software.
U.S. citizenship and ability to meet applicable background investigation and security clearance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing or the defense/aerospace industry.
Background in additive manufacturing, welding, specialized testing, or advanced manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality management standards.
