Build Precision Parts That Support a Bigger Mission

At Cogitic Corporation, we manufacture precision components that support some of the most critical programs in U.S. national defense, including the U.S. Navy's submarine fleet. We're a growing, high-mix, low-volume manufacturing company where quality, innovation, and craftsmanship matter.

We're looking for an experienced CNC Machinist who enjoys challenging work, takes pride in precision, and wants to do more than run the same parts every day. If you thrive on complex setups, advanced machining technology, and finding better ways to get the job done, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As a CNC Machinist, you'll work with state-of-the-art CNC mills, lathes, and mill/turn machines to produce complex, high-precision components. You'll play an important role in improving machining processes, maintaining quality, and supporting production goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and mill/turn machines to manufacture precision components and assemblies.

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and 3D models to determine machining processes, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.

  • Prove out, troubleshoot, and improve CNC programs and setups to reduce cycle times, improve quality, and increase efficiency.

  • Use Mastercam and NCSimul to review and backplot programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and mill/turn machines.

  • Utilize Renishaw on-machine probing systems to verify part conformance and support lightly attended or unattended machining.

  • Support the development of reliable, repeatable machining processes for Heat Resistant Super Alloys (HRSA) and other exotic materials.

  • Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, optical comparators, and other precision measuring equipment.

  • Complete bench work, including drilling, tapping, filing, deburring, and finishing.

  • Identify and resolve machining challenges to maintain productivity, quality, and on-time delivery.

  • Improve shop-floor efficiency through ProShop ERP, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.

  • Maintain accurate work orders, machining instructions, time records, and process documentation within the ERP system.

  • Follow Cogitic's Quality Management System (QMS), company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and PPE guidelines.

What We're Looking For

  • 5–10 years of experience in a CNC machining environment.

  • Associate's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Programming, Drafting, or a related discipline.

  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks 3D modeling software.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and other technical software.

  • Strong blueprint reading, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to pass a background check and hold a security clearance.

  • U.S. citizenship required.

Why Cogitic?

At Cogitic, you won't just be running parts. You'll work on challenging, mission-critical components that demand precision and technical expertise. Our high-mix, low-volume environment offers the opportunity to work with advanced equipment, tackle new machining challenges, and contribute ideas that make a real difference.

If you're a skilled machinist who takes pride in your work and wants to be part of something meaningful, we encourage you to apply!
