Ready to Lead Engineering That Actually Makes an Impact?

Are you an experienced Engineering Manager who loves solving complex technical challenges, developing talented engineers, and getting your hands dirty when needed?

Do you thrive in an environment where no two days look the same?

At Cogitic, we're not just designing parts — we're engineering and manufacturing critical components that support U.S. Navy submarines and our nation's defense.

We're looking for a hands-on, forward-thinking Engineering Manager (Engineering Services Manager) to lead our Engineering Services team, drive technical innovation, and help take our manufacturing capabilities to the next level.

This isn't your typical sit-behind-a-desk engineering management position. You'll have the opportunity to lead people, solve real-world manufacturing challenges, improve processes, and directly influence the future of a growing defense manufacturing company.

If you're passionate about engineering, leadership, and making things better, we want to meet you!

What You'll Be Doing

Lead the Team!

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineering professionals.

  • Build a high-performing engineering department focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish engineering performance metrics (KPIs), improve workflows, and drive operational excellence.

Solve the Tough Problems!

  • Lead complex mechanical engineering and manufacturing projects from concept through execution.

  • Troubleshoot technical challenges involving manufacturing processes, mechanical assemblies, welding, and testing.

  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, 2D/3D CAD models, specifications, and customer requirements.

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and other departments to develop practical engineering solutions.

Get Hands-On!

  • Oversee engineering support for precision manufacturing, mechanical assembly, welding, and component testing.

  • Support design for manufacturability (DFM), manufacturing process development, and technical documentation.

  • Guide engineering activities involving hydrostatic testing, thermal shock, flow testing, acoustic testing, and other specialized applications.

  • Coordinate outside testing services, including nondestructive testing (NDT), destructive testing, shock, and vibration testing.

Drive Innovation!

  • Support and expand our additive manufacturing and advanced manufacturing capabilities.

  • Lead engineering improvements involving manufacturing efficiency, quality, technology, and process optimization.

  • Develop engineering standards, technical procedures, work instructions, and documentation.

  • Help shape the future of Cogitic's engineering capabilities and business growth.

What We're Looking For

We're searching for a technically strong engineering leader who knows how to balance big-picture thinking with hands-on problem-solving.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology Management, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience.

  • 5+ years of engineering leadership or management experience involving engineering, manufacturing, and welding.

  • 3+ years of technical project management experience.

  • Strong background in mechanical engineering, manufacturing processes, and complex engineering projects.

  • Experience leading engineering teams and managing technical deliverables.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and practical problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience with ERP systems and business software.

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a background check and hold a security clearance.

Even Better If You Bring:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Management.

  • Experience in defense manufacturing, aerospace, naval, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Knowledge of welding engineering, welding qualifications, or welding procedures.

  • Experience with additive manufacturing or advanced manufacturing technologies.

  • Background in high-mix, low-volume precision manufacturing.

  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM), continuous improvement, and manufacturing process optimization.

  • Familiarity with mechanical testing, inspection, and quality management systems.
